TOWARDS BUILDING A NEW SPORT SYSTEM

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar chaired the seventh meeting of the Executive Committee of the 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition, which will take place in Bahrain from December 18 to 20.

During his meeting with representatives of the committee, which was held at the BOC premises in Seef, Askar was briefed in details on developments in preparation to host this first-of-its kind congress to take place in Bahrain.

Askar urged the media committee to intensify their coverage of the congress, and reflect the efforts exerted by the standing committees and the arrangements made so far to embrace the event.

The Marketing Committee, being headed by Hassan Abdullatif, also presented an update to its preparations, while the opening ceremony and timetable of the congress were also reviewed at the meeting.

Mohammed Al Balooshi, chairman of the Public Relations Committee, gave a brief presentation on his committee tasks, and affirmed the committee’s plan to attract 40 volunteers for the congress. He also revealed the committee’s preparations to receive the delegations on arrival.

On his part, Transports Committee chairman Hamad Al Baker explained some of the committee needs and inquiries in an attempt to facilitate the transports process.

The Information Technology Committee, headed by Nawaf Abdulrahman, extended his committee’s role in promoting the congress through social networks, and form an administrative team tasked at following up the IT needs during the congress.

The meeting concluded with president of the International Council for Health, Physical, Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance (ICHPER.SD) Dr Adel El Nashar reviewing the issues related to ceremonies and protocols, visa issuance for participants and unveiled some of the spokesmen at the officials sessions and workshops.

The upcoming three-day congress is a first-of-its-kind event that will take place in Bahrain. ‘Towards Building a New Sport System’ is the main slogan of the congress.

Six workshops, namely women's sport, sport for all, partnership and marketing, fitness, the Olympic movement, science and sports performance will be featured at this international gathering. Some of the congress objectives is to promote active lifestyle and how important it is related to personal, physical and mental health and also promote general physical activities in the Kingdom.

Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) general secretary Abdulrahman Askar expressed appreciation for the continued cooperation with the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Physical Education, Scouting and Girls Guidance Directorate and the University of Bahrain’s (UoB) Physical Education and Physiotherapy College in hosting the 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition from December 18 to 20.

This statement was announced during Askar’s meeting with UoB’s Physical Education and Physiotherapy College Dean Dr Mona Al Ansari, Education Ministry’s Physical Education, Scouting and Girls Guidance Director Dr Shaikha Al Jeeb and president of the International Council for Health, Physical, Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance (ICHPER.SD) Dr Adel El Nashar.

Both parties had talks on ways of boosting joint cooperation, as Askar briefed both officials on the latest arrangements made by the BOC to prepare for the congress. He was also told about the needs of the Science Committee, being headed by Dr Mona Al Ansari.

Askar said the contributions of the University of Bahrain, which is "scientific partner", will have a prominent role in preparing for the workshops, seminars and meetings due to the expertise and academic qualifications enjoyed by the university.

He noted that 50 physical education teachers will be taking part in the congress, which underlines the keens of the Education Ministry to benefit from the scientific content, which will have significant influence in enriching the congress and contribute to its success.

On their part, Dr Mona Al Ansari and Dr Shaikha Al Jeeb said they were pleased for their participation in the congress, which is in line with the directives of Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and BOC president Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to link sport with science in order to achieve massive development in sports in Bahrain

Preparations are in full swing for the 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition, which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from December 18 to 20.

The three-day congress is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee in cooperation with the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD) and the University of Bahrain.

The Executive Committee, headed by BOC general secretary Abdulrahman Askar, held its regular meeting to follow up the committee’s progress to prepare for this first-of-its-kind event in Bahrain.

During the meeting, which was also attended by International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport and Dance, Askar was briefed in details on the arrangements made by the standing committees, including the Media Committee, marketing committee, side activities committee, public relations committee, ,IT committee, transports committee, financial committee, coordination and follow-up committee.

Media Committee head Hasan Ali presented the latest media newsletter and radio advertisements, issued by his panel, while activities committee head Seema Al Kharraz spoke about the opening ceremony arrangements as well as the side activities that will take place on the sidelines of the event.

On his part, IT committee head Nawaf Abdulrahman made a presentation on his marketing plan on social networks, while transports committee head Hamad Al Baker reviewed the needs of his panel in order to ensure transports for the congress guests.

Winners of the 2013 edition of Nasser bin Hamad Scientific Research Award in the field of sports will again be taking part in the 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition, which will be held in the Kingdom of Bahrain from December 18 to 20.

Researchers Ahmed Mubarak Salem presented his research on a proposed strategy to invest in sports clubs in Bahrain, while Dr Mervat  Amin Desoqi’s theme is about the youth and sport endowment management in the kingdom of Bahrain.

Both will be submitting their presentations orally, through which a number of researches will be reviewed in approximately 30 minutes each to take advantage of its studies, outcomes, recommendations and proposals that can be applied for the development of the sports movement.

They researchers expressed their pride in participating in sports science conference because of its scientific objectives are in favor of improving the system of sports. The organizing committee of the congress has received so far 50  Arab and 28 foreign researches.

The organisers of the 56th ICHPER.SD Anniversary World Congress and Exposition is finalizing its preparations for the event, which will be held in Bahrain from December 18 to 20.

The Scientific Committee has received 132 research in total, including 92 Arab research and 40 in English. They will be screened and studied by the purpose-formed Judging Committee, featuring standing committees for the Arabic and English scientific research.

The Arabic Scientific Committee is being headed by University of Bahrain Physical Education and Physiotherapy Dean Dr Mona Al Ansari.

The committee also includes High Studies Dean Huda Al Khaja, Dr Mosaad Ewies, Dr Farouk Abdulwahab, Dr Ahmed Al Emadi, Dr Majda Salah El Din, Dr Bahaa Salama, Dr Ekhlas Abdelhafeez, Dr Nagy Esmail of Egypt, Dr Abdellatif Bokhari of Saudi Arabia and Dr Faisal Hameed of Bahrain.

Delores James of the US is heading the English Scientific Committee, which also comprises Dr Mohammad Torabi, Dr Bradford Strand, Dr Gregory Soukup, Tarin Hampton, Lawrence Judge, Xiaofen Keating, Mildred Naquin, all of the US, besides Nigeria’s Dr Veronica Igbanugo and Grace Otinwa, Timothy Lynch of Australia and Korea’s Eng Joe Wee.

The congress is held in cooperation with the International Council for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance (ICHPER.SD) and the University of Bahrain.
